Smart2Go progresses in the flexible miniaturized battery development

October 7, 2019

VARTA Micro Innovation, partner of Smart2Go project, has recently produced, using semi-industrial equipment, 2 generations of single layer pouch prototype cells with a nominal capacity of 60mAh, composed by advanced thin and flexible negative- and positive electrodes. The two generations only differ in the overall cell thickness (GEN1: 436µm, GEN2:399µm). With GEN1 cells an excellent cycling behaviour can be achieved. After 500 cycles a capacity retention of 83% was measured. The prototypes will be further investigated and represent one of the key components of the Smart2Go energy supply platform. Smart2Go project started on 1st January 2019 and has a duration of 36 months: stay updated about the upcoming project results!
